Quantum information with cold atoms and non-classical light
Abstract:
This project uses cold, trapped rubidium atoms in an optical dipole trap as an atomic ensemble to study quantum light-matter interactions. At the same time, quantum states of light, precisely tuned to the rubidium D1 transition, are generated using squeezing and cavity-enhanced parametric down-conversion techniques. The interaction of these two quantum systems forms a quantum interface, in which quantum features can be transfered from light to atoms and vice-versa.
