PhD student Dhriti Sundar Ghosh

ICFO PhD student Dhriti Sundar Ghosh one of the two recipients of the Photonics21 Student Innovation Award. ICFO PhD student Dhriti Sundar Ghosh has been recognized with the 2011 Photonics21 Student Innovation Award for his work on ultrathin metal films for energy-efficient photonics. This award is presented to students under 35 years of age who have made a significant contribution in photonics especially related to R&D with industrial impact. Dhriti will share the prize with Oriol Bertran-Pardo of Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs in France

Dhriti works in the optoelectronics group led by ICREA Prof. Valerio Pruneri investigating and developing photonics devices with transparent electrodes made of ultra-thin metal films. The work is the basis of several industrial projects with partners in Spain, Europe and USA, including Ficosa International, SEAT-Volkswagen, IBM and Corning.
